News : Dragons Den

BBC Dragons Den

Gillian competed against 76,000 applicants and was successful in being in getting through to the final 36 as seen on the first programme of Dragons Den.

"it was extremely nerve wracking entering the dragons den. I had no concept of what to expect. At the last moment the producers told me I was not allowed to take in my business plan, or financial forecasts. I also had a sign made with my logo, but it was grabbed out of my hands as I walked up the stairs. I was actually grilled for over 1 hour in real time. When Peter Jones mentioned I had not even got a logo, I told them the producer would not allow me to bring it on. The producer relented and it was brought onto the show. The nerves made my mind go blank at times and I could not remember how to say the word Organic. I could see it lit up in neon lights in my head but the words wouldnt come out. It was a good experience though and Simon Woodruff understood the concept, Peter Jones was complimentary on my experience and said I had all the makings of an entrepreneur.

Since then I raised the capital and secured D.T.I.backing. I had under estimated the time it takes to get a product to market , we launched at Earls Court London Jan 2006 to great success.

The products have been selected for the Best New Product at Harrogate Home & Gift Fair. We have been featured in You Magazine, Red, Eve, Elle, Country Homes & Interiors, and Yoga Magazine, which I now write a monthly column for. We are growing sales each month and now have agents, and I am also working with a UK Fashion Designer and a store group on Home Fragrance ranges. Its been challenging, inspiring and a massive learning curve journey and I have only just started! "

Gillian also gives inspirational talks on her experiences of Dragons Den, Babson College USA and as a woman in business.
